Una Sra. pone una reclamación de 5000 libras al Ayuntamiento de su ciudad por poner los contenedores de basura en la calle. El Ayuntamiento, con el fin reciclar, ha cambiado el sistema de recogida de basuras. Esta Sra. dice que ahora con los contenedores que están todo el día en la calle, además de no ser adecuados para sus necesidades, destruyen el atractivo de la vía y la propiedad pierde valor a la hora de venderse.

  • Her trouble began when the council replaced her seagull-proof sack used for holding household waste with a large wheelie bin.
  • In her letter to the authority, she said the green-coloured bin had ‘wrecked all kerb appeal in one fell swoop.

  • Miss Chisholm’s letter came after the Conservative-controlled authority introduced a rubbish and recycling scheme earlier this month which sparked more than 6,000 complaints in its first day.

  • Some said their bins were crawling with flies and maggots.

  • Though she insisted she does not object to recycling, she says it has now gone too far.

  • ‘I also strongly object to the area in general being turned from a beautiful tourist attraction into a slum like Bin City,’ she said in her letter.

  • Miss Chisholm has now threatened to ‘saw up her large bin, put it in her car and dump it on the steps of the Town Hall if it is not collected.
